    1938 - 2017

    Verdon Charles Rodewald, 78, of Glyndon, MN, passed away April 21, 2017. Verdon was born on July 29, 1938, to Henry and Martha Rodewald at Gibbon, MN. He grew up in Callaway, MN, went to country school through 8th grade, and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army September 1961 through October 1963 and was stationed in Germany for 1 ½ years. Verdon and Carol (Sahlberg) were married on November 14, 1964, at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, MN. When they were first married he drove milk truck from fall 1963 to 1965. From 1965 to 1990 they made their living on a dairy farm in the Ulen-Hitterdal area until they moved off the farm in 2014 and moved to Glyndon, MN. He also drove semi from 1990 to 2013.

    Verdon enjoyed the outdoors, driving tractor, custom loader work, 4-wheeling, gopher trapping and snowmobiling. Another favorite hobby was working in the shop doing various projects such as welding, repairing equipment and anything else that he could think of. He was an active member of Western Minnesota Steam Threshers and drove shuttle for 7 years.

    Verdon is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Jeffrey (Becky) Rodewald, Hawley, MN, James Rodewald, Twin Valley, MN, Jaculin (David) Rosman, Hawley, and Chris (Scott) Fuglie, Ulen, MN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Kermit (the late Audrey) Rodewald, Detroit Lakes, MN, Walley (Charlotte) Rodewald, Detroit Lakes, MN, David (Joyce) Rodewald, Audubon, MN; sisters, Karen (Arnold) Kubasta, Eloy, AZ, and Marlys (Kenneth) Svare, Audubon, MN.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha Rodewald, and numerous loved ones.

    Memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN. The memorial service will be Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, MN.

    I heard about his passing in church on Sunday. This was sad news. He will definitely be missed
