Tim Ruud
1957 - 2019

Tim was born on August 22, 1957, in Pelican Rapids, MN to James and Anna Mae (Paulson) Ruud. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1976. Tim married Sharon K. Kohlhase on February 27, 1981. The couple resided in Pelican Rapids, MN and then Amor, MN where Tim farmed primarily hogs. The couple moved to Wadena, MN in 1989 where Tim attended Wadena Technical College and became a licensed plumber. After moving to Alexandria in 1990, Tim began working as a plumber for Aquarius 84 where he worked for the next 28 years. During the course of their marriage, the couple welcomed three children into their family.

Tim spent much of his time cutting and selling firewood where he was lightheartedly given the nickname “Woodchuck” by his friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands. He especially loved camping and taking family vacations. Tim was a very active member of WMSTR (Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion, Inc.) - each year Tim and Sharon loaded up the camper and spent over a week in Rollag, MN gearing up for and volunteering at the Labor Day reunion. Tim worked in the saw mill and Sharon the fry bread stand. Tim was a generous man and considered just about everybody his “neighbor” whether right next door or 50 miles away. He was blessed with the gift of gab and saying goodbye usually took 20 minutes or more. Tim was passionate about his family and passing on traditions. He also had a special place in his heart for animals.

Timothy James Ruud died in his home on September 12, 2019, in Alexandria, MN at the age of 62. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Amy (Josh) Klimek and Kristina Ruud, all of Alexandria, MN; granddaughters, Makayla Klimek, Natalie Klimek and Kassidy Klimek; father, James Ruud of Pelican Rapids, MN; sister, Naomi (Brian) Barber of Granite Falls, MN, and many brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Tim is preceded in death by his son, Karl Ruud, and mother, Anna Mae Ruud.

A funeral is scheduled for September 18, 2019, at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN where Tim was a member. Pastor David Fleener will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tim's life.
