After years of various ladies having to trek across the show grounds to do the laundry every day during the week prior to, and during the show, life is about to become a little more covienient for them!

Becky W. came to the board last month with a suggestion that the Bygone Years Shop be closed and the space be remodeled to make additional room for a complete laundry facility, as well as additional storage for some of our equipment used in the building. She even had all of the volunteers lined up to do the work! She did not have to look far... Her daughter Sara, and Son-in-Law John and Grand Daughter Savana were ready to "dig in"! She even had Bob M. lined up to do the plumbing for her!

Here Bob and Kade M. work on installing the new laundry sink where the smaller bath sink used to be. You can see the sheet rock is cut out where the door will be to enter the new laundry room.

    The sink installed...

I did not get any pictures of the carpentry work in progress, but here is one from the end of day 1 (New door and stud wall installed).

The new wall is set back from the main wall in the dining area of the mercantile. This will provide a recessed display area for some the the pieces that used to sit in the Bygone Years shop.

Thanks to Becky and her family for the planning and the work that went into this much needed improvement, and to the Mitchell family for the plumbing expertise! More pics when it is finished!
