    Lowell Stevens
    1940 - 2018

Lowell R. Stevens, age 78, of Gary, MN, died Friday, March 23, 2018, in his home.
Lowell Richard was born in Norman County, rural Ada, MN, the son of Stanley and Cora (Gullingsrud) Stevens. He grew up near Ada, where he attended school. Lowell was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Ada. He was raised by his grandparents and as a young man helped on the family farm and worked construction. In November of 1968, Lowell began his 39 years of loyal employment at Norman County Implement and retired on December 31, 2007. He moved from the farm into Gary in the early 1970’s and following the tornado of 1978, Merlyn Meyer built the house Lowell continued to call home until his death.

Although he quit turning wrenches at the implement, Lowell was far from retired. He continued to keep busy by working for the City of Gary, helping with the mowing, snow blowing and general maintenance. He worked the fall beet campaign for many seasons and continued to mow the church yard. Lowell wasn’t all work and no play… He loved to tinker with his antique tractors and looked forward to the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag, MN, every fall. Lowell appreciated the great outdoors and the opportunities it provided for riding snowmobile, mowing, driving his ranger and spending time at the cabin with Engen’s on Tulaby Lake. He also enjoyed scrapbooking, traveling, the occasional trip to the casino and was known to attend any lutefisk feed in the area. He was a member of Gary Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of WMSTR. Lowell was a sweet man with a generous heart who liked to visit, keep things organized with colored paperclips and always had a use for scotch tape! He will be missed by many.
Lowell is survived by an aunt, LuVerne Hopwood, Sauk Center, MN; a niece and nephew; distant extended family and his adoptive loving family: Leonard (Linda) Engen and their children: Kim (Roger) Knutson, Stacy (Ray) Gunderson, and Kelly “Buck” (Kristi) Engen and kids. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry in 1995.

Blessed be the memory of Lowell Richard Stevens.
