Kerosene Anne

We had a good evening. We got to reconnect with some friends, got to make a couple new friends, had a good supper and got to hear Annie run. What could be better?

Hi everyone,

Look what you can see on Google map if you look around enough.

If you go here, you can see a bigger view.

Sometimes Google Map will let you go back in history.

You can 'drive' around the building. There are more tractors on display.

Hi everyone,

As noted earlier, Kerosene Annie was tested a Luke S's place before she came to Rollag. The crew wanted to know if she was only going to be a parade queen or a worker. We agreed that data from the tests would be reported after Annie got to Rollag. For all you enquiring minds, here are the results from Luke's place on August 10, 2022

First run up

Scale lbs . . . . . RPM . . . . .Hp

43 . . . . . . . . . . .284 . . . . . 12.2

68 . . . . . . . . . . 283 . . . . . 19.2

76 . . . . . . . . . . .290 . . . . . 22.0

103 . . . . . . . . 268 . . . . . 27.6

110 . . . . . . . . . 257 . . . . . 28.3

Second run up. We took a little break so the crew could check Annie out and be sure everything was OK.

Scale lbs . . . . . RPM . . . . .Hp

118 . . . . . . . . . .285 . . . . . 33.6

160 . . . . . . . . . 263 . . . . . 42.1

After another break and checking things out we did another run up.

Scale lbs . . . . . RPM . . . . .Hp

174 . . . . . . . . . .252 . . . . . 43.8

144 . . . . . . . . . 274 . . . . . 39.5

138 . . . . . . . . . 280 . . . . . 38.6

142 . . . . . . . . 293 . . . . . 41.6

After a short breather, Rob and Clyde asked for an extended load from 20 to 30 Hp
Here are some numbers during that run.

Scale lbs . . . . . RPM . . . . .Hp

50 . . . . . . . . . . .294 . . . . . 14.7

100 . . . . . . . . . 288 . . . . . 28.8

110 . . . . . . . . 284 . . . . . 31.2

120 . . . . . . . . . 281 . . . . . 33.7

127 . . . . . . . . . 268 . . . . . 34.0

145 . . . . . . . . . 263 . . . . . 38.1

155 . . . . . . . . . 269 . . . . . 41.7

If any of you happen to see the original worksheet, you may find a couple different numbers that are reported here. I rechecked all the calculations and fixed a couple rounding errors and one calculation error. The fixes did not change the maximum number we calculated at Luke's.

There were a lot of smiles when the crew realized that Annie is a worker, not just a parade queen.

Hi again everyone,

Annie arrived at Rollag on Monday, August 29 and was around for Nursing Home Day on Tuesday, August 30. The Annie crew made plans for her activities during the show. We were lucky and they chose to come to the Red Brake on Friday after the afternoon parade.

Clyde and Rob pulled Annie up to the Red Brake right after they finished the parade. We got her belted up and spun the Brake a bit to be sure everything was lined up, then Annie got shut off until the parade ended. We hooked one of Jonathan H's tractors up to the PTO of the Red Brake so we could that as a starting engine for Annie.

After the parade finished, we waited a bit for the crowd to come over to the Brake. Rob was gracious enough to spend a few minutes telling the crowd about Annie and JUMP. When we finished talking, Jonathan used his tractor to start Annie. After Annie was running, the clutches on both tractors were released so we could remove the PTO shaft and Jonathan drove his tractor away.

Here are the results of the run we did.

Scale lbs . . . . . RPM . . . . .Hp

50 . . . . . . . . . . .260 . . . . . 13.0

70 . . . . . . . . . . 258 . . . . . 18.1

80 . . . . . . . . . . .260 . . . . . 20.8

90 . . . . . . . . . . 261 . . . . . 23.5

100 . . . . . . . . . 259 . . . . . 25.9

110 . . . . . . . . . 259 . . . . . 28.5

120 . . . . . . . . 257 . . . . . 30.8

130 . . . . . . . . . 257 . . . . . 33.4

140 . . . . . . . . . 256 . . . . . 35.8

150 . . . . . . . . . 254 . . . . . 38.1

160 . . . . . . . . . 253 . . . . . 40.5

170 . . . . . . . . . 263 . . . . . 44.7

180 . . . . . . . . . 260 . . . . . 46.8

190 . . . . . . . . . 256 . . . . . 48.6

200 . . . . . . . . . 256 . . . . . 51.2

210 . . . . . . . . . 247 . . . . . 51.9

220 . . . . . . . . . 253 . . . . . 55.7

230 . . . . . . . . . 252 . . . . . 58.0

240 . . . . . . . . . 241 . . . . . 57.8

It looks like Annie loosened up and was running better by the time she got to the show. The last two lines have about the same Hp. The 58.0 could likely be the maximum she could produce that day. If we would have tightened the Brake, we may have gotten higher torque values, but if the rpm continued to drop, Hp would have dropped, also.

It looks like JUMP has a good running, hard working tractor. What a treat to see her, hear her, test her and get to see her do other things.

Thought I'd post a few pics from the day "Annie" was to be loaded going back home.

Here's the a good crew waiting for the semi to show up on Tuesday the 6th, to load and haul the engine back to JUMP.

Here's "Annie" patiently waiting under a Minnesota Blue Sky for the semi to travel home (such great weather all 4 days).

Thought this was a nice photo-op to get Earl's Mill in the background.

It was a very good 2022 WMSTR show. One for the books and memories.
Take care, All.
