Dave Doxey

Thanks everyone. He is at home resting this weekend. Three more treatments next week and go from there.

With my check up this summer we received the news that the cancer had returned. Treating it with radiation again would be risky so they are treating it with Chemotherapy. I have had 4 treatments now, there are up and down days and I am losing the little hair I have left. Mustache remains ok so far! Next week they are going to try Immunotherapy along with the Chemo, they say the treatments will not kill the cancer, they just want to control it. At 3 months of treatment they will do a scan and see the results. I am still working and enjoying life as normal. I am not real good at letting people know whats going on.

You are in our thoughts and prayers here Dave!

I know you are a fighter and your positive attitude will really help in your fight! Keep it up!!!

I talked to Josh last evening and Dave is scheduled for surgery Tuesday morning (February 12) at Mayo in Rochester to remove the cancer from one of his lungs.

Please keep Dave, Julie, Josh and Tara... and family in prayer as he enters the next stage of his battle.

Surgery was a success!!! The Mayo team was able to successfully remove the tumor and the lower left lobe of his lung. They got clear margins and lymph nodes. He is cancer-free and chemo/radiation are unecessary! He still has a long recovery ahead and he is not out of the woods yet. He is at high risk for developing issues after surgery. They estimate a 5 to 7 day hospital stay. We are still waiting to see him. We are praying for a smooth and healthy recovery!

Thanks for sharing the good news!
As stated above, we need to say prayers of thanks and prayers for further recovery.

Later,
Jerry Christiansen

They had Dad up today for a very short walk. Three more walks is on the agenda for today. Tomorrow they will have him riding a (stationary) bike.

This is so awesome..............Cut a person open for seven hours then take a portion of their lung and then the next day he is walking and then for the agenda for tomorrow lets ride bike:bannana:. You go Dave.

Per Tara (Joshs' sister)

My dad came out of surgery like a rock star yesterday. Quite a bit of pain, but grateful and maintaining his sense of humor AND mentioning he could maybe do some work on the computer(seriously?). Today, they had him up walking around and he told the nurses that they would have trouble keeping up with him. They enjoy his sense of humor. We can't thank you enough for your incredibly kind words, prayers and support.

That sounds like the Dave we all know! :thumb:
