Well one more of the many projects at the Historical Restorations shop. This engine was purchased from Bill Rudicill and delivered to the show grounds during Steam school 2016. It is a D6100 Caterpillar three cylinder diesel engine with pony start. About 1933 -1935 vintage.
This is another one that there is very little available for parts . It has some issues that will make it a multi year project. The cat V8 I did was very challenging but this 3 cylinder with be all of that and a little more due to nothing being available for it. I took it on thinking 5 less cylinders, this will be much quicker and easier.
Left side of engine showing the pony motor.
This is what I found when I took the head off last weekend. # 2 cylinder had a lot of moisture in it at one time, And yes the engine is stuck but this tells me the bottom end should not be the issue for it being stuck.
