Need for accessibility

At times we hear some folks complaining about the time and money for accessible features at Rollag. The picture below tells a story.

This is the accessible porta-potty just west of the Nelson building. At least four people needing an oversized restroom are in line and waiting. Each one of them paid admission and helped support our show. The oversized porta-potties during the show provide services at showtime, but we need accessible accommodations all year.

Work has been done and will continue to make accessible accommodations in all our restrooms. Not only do we have to provide large stalls with grab bars, we also need to add features so that people with low vision or who are blind don't run into things like towel dispensers that stick out in the walkway in the restrooms.

You and your crew are making improvements nearly every weekend during the summer Jerry... I am sure many are not aware of that, but those of us who spend a lot of time out there know that. These facilities are every bit as important as the rest of our infrastructure. In many cases, more so!

On behalf of everyone else, thank you for your attention to detail in this under appreciated yet very important part of our show.

The folks in the transportation department need a big THANK YOU for their work making our grounds accessible. We have several small people wagons specifically designed for folks with a disability. Some are set up with ramps, space for wheelchairs and other family members.

These small wagons behind a small tractor can get into many places on the grounds. The Villaume Building and the Pabst/Soo Building have made arrangements so that these wagons can come through the buildings. I suspect other places have made similar arrangements, too.

Jerry and a number of individuals have made great improvement in restrooms, transportation and other areas at little or no cost. Their seems to be more people with life challenges attending and that is great. Bringing several younger family members along on the trailer and seeing Grandpa's or Grandma's delight will broaden our appeal as an organization. Keep up the good work!
