That time of year is approaching!

We'll have Minneapolis Threshing Machine Co. #7700 steamed up and likely on the prony brake for engineers-in-training to get a bit of experience firing with coal under load during the day on Saturday and Sunday. Who else plans on attending steam school this year? Will the Thick and Thin and Briden-Roen mills both be up and running? Any other opportunities for engineers-in-training who have been through steam school in the past to get a few hours and some hands-on time?

Will be needing the #7700 at the TnT mill on Friday if possible. Will need engines for both Friday and Saturday for that matter.

Sanders and I are planning to get the Port Huron out of bed over Memorial weekend, and have it on hand for steam school as of our last dialogue a week or two ago. It seems there's doing to be done on steam school Friday, so I'll see about taking a day and showing up Thursday evening.

--------------------------------
Update: planning to investigate a clank detected last season over Memorial weekend. If fixable with minor adjustments, will plan to make the Port available to apply torque during steam school weekend. If not, will plan to sit in front of Merc to give students lever time.

Hi all,

I am happy to see this thread got started. If you or someone you know needs time steaming so you can take the test, this is an excellent opportunity. F0lks that have taken Steam School and those who have not are invited. During the mornings when this year's class is in the classroom, opportunities to get some hands-on time will be available. Hopefully we can have both the Red Brake and Blue Brake operating with engines. The Baker Fan should be ready to go, also. These are excellent places to practice and learn firing technique. If a person wants lever and driving time, I am certain engines will be available for that.

After all that, Jeff and Rick have volunteered engines. Who else is available? If you want to be on one of the Brakes, please speak up.

The 20 Minneapolis will be out and about. If we are not otherwise engaged we can work with some students. I have not gotten my orders from the boss yet, so we may be doing some time on a sawmill.

We'll be out there. I hope to get some sawmill time in if anyone needs extra hands!

75 Case will be out and about and if the weather cooperates I know there is some interest from our crew in doing a spark show Saturday evening if the prony brake operators are on board

I will be out there for Steam School available to run either brake if we have engines and engineers that want time under load.

Hi all,

Steam School is two weekends away. I believe I saw people working on Clayton's Sawmill and on the Briden-Roen Sawmill. We plan on having the Red Brake and the Blue Brake available. So far the Edin crew has spoken up to be on a brake and Ned has expressed interest in a Spark Show Friday. We still have openings for other steam engines on a Brake during the day.

Plenty of preparation work is still available. Many areas of the grounds still need to be cleaned up, bathrooms and showers always need cleaning, the food crews will be busy and the list goes on.

Correction Jerry the crew would like to do a spark show Saturday night. Friday night is the softball game of fun and funness in downtown Rollag. For those unaware please check out the post under the "general discussion forum" for more info on the game. Please feel free to come and join or cheer on the players and Ray

I suppose you wouldn't believe me if I said I did that on purpose to see if anyone was paying attention? Nope, never worked before either. Thanks for seeing the mistake.
