Steam School 2015

I am planning to be out on the hill for Steam School with cameras. If you have anything up and running you would like me to film for inclusion in the 2015 DVD, or would like to share some stories or information about your exhibit, please contact me and we can set something up!

It is always great to hear stories and information about exhibits for use in the DVD!

- Tim

Like always Tim, there should be some students at the B and R sawmill on Friday getting some time in on the engines.
And this year there will be some down at the T and T sawmill getting some time on the engines there as well on Friday.

I should be pulling the 75 out this weekend if there are any students from previous years classes that would like to get hands on just let me know. (especially if you would like to try putting in hand holes and grates).
If your from this years class and want hands on too that's fine too, stop on by!!
I can't guarantee that we will be steamed up this weekend but we should be watered up ready for next weekend.

we were coming down friday morning sometime, is there anyplace in particular you want campers or can i just wheel into teskerville and park??

If you're just camping for steam school weekend there are usually some spots around the ok corral shower house but yes if you want teskerville is a safe bet for camping

ok, wasnt sure if those open spots were fair game....gates be open around 7ish friday morning?

For the record - does anyone have a semi-official agenda / schedule for the Steam School weekend? I have had one inquiry as to the official start time for Saturday morning class but curious myself for start times Friday at the sawmills, etc as well.
Thanks in advance!

B and R will cut ONE log on Thursday about 3 P.M. Rollag time to make sure everything works the way it did when we shut down last Fall. I'll rephrase that, to see if everything works.

FRY BREAD ALERT!! Yes it is true there will be FRY BREAD on the grounds on SATURDAY! Serving fresh from 9:30 -11:00 am and then again from 1:30 to 3:00!! WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!!

And when The FRY BREAD runs out at 3:00 - you can come up to St Andrews Catholic Church in Hawley and enjoy a FREE WILL Pork Sandwich supper (4 pm -8 pm) - get some 1919 Root Beer floats and play on some awesome games - take a commemorative picture in the photo booth and bid and buy some AWESOME Silent Auction Items - all while supporting a local family going thru a medical crisis! Your meals are complete for Sat - what more can you ask for?! No cooking for a day - and a full belly! YAY!

Hi Everyone:
Just wanted to say thanks for hosting a great weekend! It was nice to (finally!) get down to see your Steam School, big hats off to the presenters and engineers who worked long and hard all weekend, both in the classroom and outside getting engines prepped and fired up. Fair warning, I may be stealing some good ideas to use at our (Steam Association of Manitoba) school in the future. It was nice to finally put names to faces, and I look forward to seeing many of you over the next years/decades :)

Thanks,
Colin Farquhar

Instead of "stealing" we may be more politically correct to say 'borrow' or ''expand on other peoples' ideas.

How do you think we got some of our ideas? We have stolen (oops, borrowed) them from others. ;)...

I am glad you had a good time.

Later,
Jerry Christiansen

"borrow for creative inspiration"? :) Looking forward to hosting some of the Rollag instructors (Tom Hall, Jeff Knutson) up in Austin next weekend.

Thank you all for coming, and to the WMSTR crew for doing another great job putting things together! I have heard reports that all went great!

I was unable to attend this year as (some may have heard) I had a chance to go on a 2 week cruise / tour of Alaska! While that was an amazing experience, I did think of you all back here and what I was missing on steamer hill! It was the first steam school I have missed in probably 12 years.

Thanks again all!

Hi all! I have had people asking on social media how to get more information about steam school or how to sign up and while I always refer them to http://rollag.com/about.php?doAction=steamSchool there isn't a lot of information there and asking them to write a letter to Tom seems really inefficient. Can I give people Tom's number privately? Or email address? Is there any other suggestions to help get some good info out to those inquiring? @tom hall

I will shoot you Tom's number and email address via PM. He would be the one to ask about his contact preferences. I think he uses his home number, but we better check to make sure before we put it out there.

The biggest issue I see is that the course is filled by just after show time for the following year! I guess folks could call and get information, but he often has to tell him they are full. We'll have to figure timing out so that people get word as soon as they can sign up. Then the only problem is the hundreds that want to come and there are only 60 or so openings!

Thank you for the quick reply!
